I am a teacher in an alternative learning program in St. Michael-Albertville. I teach Social Studies and Work Based Learning. My wife and I live in Buffalo, MN and both work with "at-risk" populations. I have worked with at-risk youth for almost ten years and can't imagine doing anything different.
Why are you interested in Students Speak Out?
I think it is absolutely imperative that students find their voice, have a platform to speak it and have faith that people will listen. I belive there needs to be major reform in the educational system and I think it starts with the students. I am excited to see what everyone has to say and am encouraged by this movement.

Craig -- please make sure to check out the new R.T. Rybak post and encourage students to respond! Request to be his friend, too, please. We want to hook him on the power of SSO. Boost his excitement about it so he'll keep coming back!
Craig -- Hi! Welcome. Glad you are here. Please, if you are comfortable with it, encourage students you know to come on here and discuss education matters! The more students, the better! The more adults the better too! Students who post their stories in the alternative school group are eligible to win a camcorder, but most importantly their stories will be compiled by the SSO Goes Alternative Student leaders as they seek to make policy change. The stories are EXCELLENT in helping them define the issues.
And, wow, what a nice pic!

Hello, Welcome! I have to say that you have posted a gorgeous photo. I agree 100% with what you said to left. Thank you for being here. I am continuously exhilarated by this movement. I see the natural high of the students after they speak and am inspired...forward, forward, forward.
