I am the current president of the Minnesota Association of Alternative Programs (MAAP). We have over 700 members who work in the learning options programs/schools in MN. MAAP's main work is directed at having strong learning options that meet the needs of all of MN's students.
On the personal level, I have spent over 30 years working in a variety of schools and working with stakeholders on creating strong learning options. I just recently retired from paid work in education, however I intend to continue the same work, just not in the "classroom".
I have two daughters and four grandchildren. I like the out of doors along with gardening, hunting, and planting trees. My most recent quandry is how to hook my house up to my own residential wind energy system. Beyond that, I just get really excited about discovering (and working to build) the future.
Why are you interested in Students Speak Out?
I am interested in SSO so we can hear the voice of the students and help create change/improvement based on what they say.

Welcome! Congrats on the wind power! My family has been discussing alternitive energy possibilities as well, and there are certainly many options out there.
Terry -- I recommend that you join the SSO Goes Alternative group. Click "Groups" above. Then click the alternative group. Then click "join the group." A lot is about to happen there -- all because of our team!
Also check out the main page -- their pics and bios are there.

Isn't this awesome?
Thanks for your leadership thus far. The students are fabulous, and I can't wait to kick into high gear!
