Students: Questions about Testing
This summer, I'm taking part in a journalism workshop at the University of St. Thomas as a part of the teen journalism organization, ThreeSixty, where I'm working with other students to create an online magazine for teens. I'm working on an article on the effect standardized testing has on students, since no one really asks for our input on this topic. The NCLB law says that we have to take these tests in order to gauge schools' progress. Students, I have a few questions for you. (NOTE, you may be quoted in the article, which will be published online)
-How many standardized tests did you take in the past year? (MCAs CALTs etc) How much time did you spend doing test prep in school?
-How do you feel about the tests? What do you like/dislike about them?
-If standardized tests aren't a effective way to measure how well we're doing, what would be a better way?
-What question(s) would you ask officials about the tests? (What you don't understand about them etc)
