Minneapolis Youth Congress

Thought some of you articulate, smart, opinionated youth might think this is cool, and it's a great opportunity to work with decision-makers in MPLS.

These students, often labeled "trouble-makers" or "at-risk" were eager to speak out and gave really honest, thoughtful and articulate answers that I found really moving. I edited together some of their quotes...you can listen to it on the left side of my page! (The questions they were responding to were those I asked on the forum..."SContinue

Annie, could you come share your experience with standardized tests in the forum? what do you think of them? do they negatively affect how teachers teach? here's the link: http://www.studentsspeakout.org/forum/topics/fresh-start

Hey Annie, the Milwaukee Student Leaders posted their end product for their project and are looking for feedback, so you should check it out if you can.

That sucks. I hate being sick. It actually could be the same as your other story because you will have to write is in front of her to make sure there is no cheating. Mine was pretty bad actually. I wonder when we get them back.
The subjunctive isn't that hard. I think I'm understanding most of it.
It's always possible that the dollar with suddenly climb a bunch but they have been printing way too much money in order to try and get us out of the recession. So when we start to get out of it, that extra money is going to cause some potentially serious inflation. In case you wanted an econ lesson for the day.
Stowing away would be pretty interesting. We should try it. : )

I think part of it is that there is no way she could prove that people cheated on the online test even though I'm pretty sure people did but she thought she had tangible proof that you cheated. Even though you didn't. Did you write an amazing story today using the subjunctive and prove her wrong?
Europe would be magnificent. I am very jealous of Maggie that she gets to go this summer. I want to go after senior year also but it is super expensive and most likely the dollar will only go down.

Do you guys have to rewrite those stories while she hovers over everyone to make sure that they aren't cheating? Because we do and it is dumb. I would love to to spain but I feel like it would be a little expensive.

I am actually not the spanish freshman genius, that would be dan who sits behind me. He should be in spanish four or five but it is very helpful to those of us around him that he is not.
